CSS Naked Day

April 8, 2008

Entry #12

Just a note that this site will be taking part in CSS Naked Day on April 9 by turning off all its CSS for the day (maybe only on the front page though - or maybe not) to show that the site is still presentable and readable even when styles are removed.

Started a blog recently (actually late December of last year) where I have been chronicling my experiences going to different Mexican restaurants in Orange County. I got very creative and called it "Orange County Mexican Restaurants." It's been a fun little amateur thing to do and my reviews seem to be helping and informing people who are looking for a good place to eat. And I've been meeting a bunch of good people because of it. In memoriam

I felt like taking this opportunity to pay tribute to my father, Erich Alan Ziebarth, Sr., who passed away on January 11 due to complications arising from pancreatic cancer that had spread to the liver. My dad was my hero, quiet and low key at times, loud and boisterous at others, but as time passed he was mostly quiet and low key. A hard-working, no-nonsense, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, co-worker who will be dearly missed.

2 E's or not 2 E's?

Just wanted to point out the stupidity and cruelty of eBay for picking on the little guy. Apparently they didn't like that there was a site out there using the domain name "perfumebay.com" and claimed it was copyright infringement. Well, if the lolos (that's Hawaiian for "stupidheads") at said auction site had any knowledge of spelling they would realize that the people who ran the perfume site were simply concatenating the words "perfume" and "bay" (as in "auction bay") into a simple domain name, not trying to glom onto eBay's fame. If that's what they were doing they would've been using the domain name "perfumeEbay.com" (with two E's, not one). But eBay has all the money and they convinced some equally stupid judge to order Perfume Bay to quit using perfumebay.com. The site is now at the new address of www.perfume-bay.com/.

Identity Crisis

I used to think I was the only Christian Ziebarth on this planet but I recently did a Yahoo! search on my name (is that less vain than Googling yourself?) and found out there is a Christian Ziebarth in Washington who received the Washington State Patrol’s Award of Merit along with some others "for their immediate and courageous actions in rescuing an accident victim from a burning vehicle." Sounds like a good guy to share my name with. I figure our middle names are different though. And my brother Gary lived in Germany recently and said he saw some people in the phone book there who were also named Christian Ziebarth.

Current Events

I’ve been to a number of Disney events recently as a member of the press. One was the Cinderella DVD Premiere at Disney’s El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. and another one was the induction of some new Disney Legends at Disneyland. I also recently interviewed Eric Goldberg and am spending a lot of time typing up a transcript of our conversation but it’ll be really good when it’s done. And he made a real nice sketch for me based on an idea I gave him.

Random Links of Varying Usefulness

Entry #2

Well, it’s a new year so I thought I’d add a new feature to the site. So just above this entry here you will see the new random link generator. I have to add the usual disclaimer that I make no guarantees whatsoever as to the usefulness of the links provided by the random link generator. It’s mostly just a way of relieving some strain on my browser that now has way too many sites bookmarked.

Welcome to my new and, hopefully, improved website. In my mind, personal websites are like the Internet version of home movies. So I'm not guaranteeing anything, but at least there are some good recipes here.
